Every Sunday, I walk into town with a friend of mine. We go to church and then the Villager afterwards for breakfast. Although it is a small event, the comfort of knowing that every Sunday we will be able to enjoy a meal at that restaurant means a lot to us. For the past few months it has been cold outside, and as we hustle through the door of the crowded restaurant, we are pleasantly surprised by the warmth and delicious smelling food that fills our senses.
Our preferred seat is the booth in the front on the right side, but sometimes we sit at another table in the back. Right off the bat, I order a hot chocolate. They serve it in a large mug, with the most delicious whipped cream on top. I am convinced that my Sunday morning hot chocolate makes me a happier person. My friend usually orders a black and white milkshake, which stands as a close second to my chocolate heaven in a cup. After a few minutes of contemplating, I usually order the eggs benedict with a side of bacon. If you have yet to try eggs benedict, you are missing out. The creamy hollandaise sauce that is drizzled over the eggs that are poached to perfection is phenomenal with its tangy and salty taste. The combination of the egg yolk, hollandaise sauce and the crispy, yet chewy English muffin that sits beneath it is simply delicious. The villager serves home fries as a side dish to their breakfast specials.
The first time I ordered them I was unsure if I would be a fan, but now I can’t go without them. The mixture of potatoes and pieces of onion are cooked with garlic seasoning that taste out of this world, especially when eaten with ketchup. I wash it down with my creamy dreamy hot cocoa and feel completely satisfied.
For obvious reasons, the entire meal electrifies my taste buds and instantly puts me in a happy mood.
As we sit and enjoy our breakfast, it feels as though the restaurant is almost like a warm, cozy house at which we are eating. The tables are pushed together close enough to feel snuggled in and serves as an escape from the cold weather. The delicious food at The Villager makes every Sunday something to look forward to, and is completely worth the long, cold walk.
this narrative of your journey to the villager was delightful to read. the way you describe the restaurant makes me want to leave class right now and go over there to have a grilled blueberry muffin with a hot chocolate. overall: sweet post.
