Ode to Apple Pie:

If I had to sing an ode to an American delight,

I would choose the apple pie, the brightest of the bright.

The crispness of the fruit, the sweetness of the crust,

The browning of the pastry, it simply is a must.

Whether you buy if from the store, or make it right at home,

Everyone will enjoy it; you’re definitely not alone.

The smell drifts through the household spreading happiness and cheer,

It doesn’t have to be thanksgiving; you can have it throughout the year.

So cut yourself a slice, hey take the whole pie,

Smother it in ice cream and slowly prepare to die.

  1. My Dearest Ellie,
Your poem is lovely. I read it at least 5 times. Your descriptions are very realistic, and I was hungry just reading your poem. The last line of your poem is very powerful, and I can tell that apple pie means a lot to you. It does to me too. We should bake a pie together!
    xoxo Katie
